Design Factors
Expanded metal can be easily cut, formed or welded on. Expanded metal is lightweight and yet strong and rigid, it is idea for decorative mesh or mesh used for aesthetic purposes. If the application requires skid resistance, then raised strands would be best for this requirement. Flattened mesh forms a smooth and flat finish, this mesh is often used to create protective enclosures, shelving, speaker grilles and baskets. |

Heavy Gauge expanded metal is defined by the required starting or original material thickness, which ranges between .015" and .090" thicknesses. The Long Way of the Diamond dimension usually selected for these type of thicknesses range between .200" and 2.00". The light weight and strength of standard expanded metal and plastic make it a popular material for a wide variety of commercial and industrial applications.
